How will you diagnose an allergy?Making an allergy diagnosis requires skill and experience. Our team will use their knowledge and skills including taking an allergy focused history, using validated tests when clinically indicated to investigate and make a diagnosis.

Will I get allergy testing?On the day of your appointment, your consultant will take a detailed history and be able to advise you if your child requires further investigations including skin prick tests. These will be offered to you on the day of your appointment. These are at an additional cost.

What age of patient do you see?We see any patient from birth up to their 16th birthday.

How long is the appointment?Please allow up to two hours for your appointment.

How will I pay?To secure your booking we kindly ask that you pay a deposit. This is to ensure we provide an efficient and fair service to all the families who would like to make appointments with CACNI. Following making your appointment you will receive a confirmation email with a payment code. Simply scan the code or click on the link and complete your payment details. The remaining balance can be paid on the day of your appointment. Skin prick testing and blood tests are subject to an additional cost.

Is there car parking?Yes. At Musgrave House and the Mid Ulster Clinic there is free car parking available on site.

What if I need to cancel?At Children’s Allergy Clinic Northern Ireland (CACNI), we have a Cancellation Policy that is designed to ensure fair access to our services, for all of our patients. All appointments at CACNI are subject to this cancellation policy. We appreciate your understanding, and your co-operation with this policy. We understand that patients may sometimes need to reschedule or cancel appointments. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible by telephone by calling 02895927700 or contact us via email to info@cacni.co.uk. Please contact the clinic during our office opening hours, which are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (please note office hours may vary on a Bank Holiday). If you are unable to reach a member of staff, please leave a message for us detailing your name and appointment details. We request that you provide at least 72 hours’ notice in advance of the appointment . This is to ensure that other families can avail of your appointment. In the event you fail to attend without providing us with notice (i.e. a ‘no-show’), or if you cancel your appointment within 72 hours of the appointment, we will retain the deposit you paid us to secure your appointment. In the case of repeated “no-shows” or late cancellations, CACNI reserves the right to refuse future appointments or we may request full payment in advance. If you are running late for your appointment, we will do our best to see you, however, you should be aware that late arrival may result in a shortened or cancelled appointment. The type of personal information we collect CACNI processes your personal information to meet our legal and statutory obligations and to provide you with our specialist services. We will never collect any unnecessary personal data from you and will not process your information in any way, other than as specified in this notice. We currently collect and process the following information: · Name · Date of Birth · Address · Phone Number · Email address · GP details · H+C · Special category data: health and medical information How we get the personal information and why we have it Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons: · To enable us to communicate with you regarding your child’s appointment. · To enable us to investigate and make a diagnosis. · To enable us to share the information, investigations, diagnosis and treatment plans with you following your child’s appointment. We may also receive personal information indirectly from the following sources in the following scenario: · From your GP or another healthcare provider, if a referral is made directly to us from them. It also may be necessary for us to gain more detailed information on your child’s medical history by: · Accessing Northern Ireland Electronic Care Record to check your contact details or to gain access to your NHS health records. How we use your personal data (legal basis for processing) CACNI complies with its obligations under the GDPR by keeping personal data up to date; by storing and destroying it securely; by not collecting or retaining excessive amounts of personal data; by protecting personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, and disclosure; and by ensuring that appropriate technical measures are in place to protect personal data. The purpose and reasons for storing your personal data include: We use the information that you have given us in order to contact you regarding the appointment you have requested, investigate the health concerns you have with your child, provide you with a medical diagnosis, provide you with management plans and arrange follow up if necessary. We may share this information with other members of the CACNI team to enable your child to benefit from other healthcare professionals’ medical opinion. We may also share your information with your GP, your child’s school, other healthcare professionals who your child is known to and people with parental responsibility. Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are legitimate interests (article 6) and special category data (article 9). How long do we store your personal information? CACNI will retain your personal data, which includes the special category data (i.e. medical information), until your child is 25years of age or 8 years following their death. This is a legal requirement in keeping with the ethical guidance given to us by the British Medical Association as of April 2022. How do we store your data? CACNI is dedicated to protecting and storing your data securely and confidentially. All your personal details are stored securely on a Microsoft cloud platform, we do not hold any paper copies of your personal or medical information. We will however, provide you with a paper copy of your allergy action plan, prescription or advice note for your GP and a clinic letter will be posted to you following your consultation. Your Rights Right of access. The GDPR gives you the right to access copies of the personal data held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with the GDPR. The first copy of the personal data held about you will be provided free of charge, but any subsequent copy will be subject to a reasonable fee based on the administrative costs of providing copies of the personal data to you. Right to request an electronic copy of your personal data. You have the right to be provided with a structured, commonly used and machine-readable copy and have the right, in certain circumstances, to ensure that we transmit that personal data to a recipient of your choice without hindrance (the right to data portability). Right to correct. You have the right to ensure that we correct the records of any personal data held about you which are inaccurate. You also have the right to ensure that we complete any incomplete personal data held about you. Right to erasure. You have the right to ensure that we erase your personal data (the right to be forgotten) on your child’s 25th birthday or 8 years following their death. Right to restriction. In certain circumstances, such as, where you have contested the accuracy of personal data, you have the right to restrict our processing of your personal data. That means that we will hold your personal data on file but that we cannot process that personal data. We will inform you if for any reason the restriction on processing your personal data is lifted. Where any rectification or erasure of personal data or restriction of processing has taken place, we shall communicate any rectification to you or erasure or restriction of processing to each recipient to whom the personal data has been disclosed, unless this proves impossible or involves disproportionate effort. We shall, if you request, inform you about those recipients. Exercising your rights. If you wish to exercise any of your rights, or if at any point you believe the personal data we posses is incorrect, you can request to see this personal data.
